Francis Russell Hart collection, 1573-1830; 1922-1936.

Deeds, wills, leases, inventories of plantations, manuscripts, and maps relating to the history of the West Indies and Central America, specifically Antigua, Barbados, Colombia, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Nevis, St. Christopher, St. Thomas, and Trinidad. The collection also includes manuscript copies and typescripts of Spanish-American letters and documents on the activities of the Darien Scots' Settlement, 1698-1700; Admiral Edward Vernon and the siege of Cartagena, 1739; and the siege of Havana, 1762-63, gathered by Hart for use in his publications on these topics. Documents related to British activities in the Caribbean include communications with the Lords Commissioners of Trade and Plantations and materials related to colonization, government, and defense there.
